December 24, 2009 (4 Years Old)

Okay. So. I just spent the last three days transfering my original notebook of entries onto this blog. Today is my first REAL entry online! I'm feeling very confident in the fact that I will be able to more accurately enter information and more often as well! I should be able to log on at work during breaks, at Meme's house, and at home when I get the chance! It was so refreshing to read back over what I had already written. It is amazing to see how far you've come!

Yesterday was your 4th Christmas. We had our elf on the shelf, Abby since the day after Thanksgiving. You were very fond of Abby this year. Often, before bed, you'd tell Abby to hide low in the morning if it would be okay for you to hold her. Sometimes you'd wake up and she would be low, other times, she'd be out of your reach. When she was low enough for you to hold, you were so delicate with her. You attached a bell to her hat and made her a little bed with a pillow. You even had her sister, Alice the elf (from Meme's house) sleep over one night! They were sisters!

Snip and Snap came and took Abby back to the North Pole. You cried and cried that night. You kept saying to me that you want to be an elf so you can play with Abby and Alice forever. I was so proud of you for setting Abby down and going to sleep so soundly, knowing that when you woke up, your new friend would be gone. You are doing such mature things.

Snip and Snap left you and Molly new hamsters! Although you already have Whiskers, you now have two princess hamsters, Trixie and Lulu.
Christmas Eve we went to Grandma's. She got you nice jammers, a sleepover backpack, legos, and lots of other neat gifts. Aunt Amy got you ballet things!
On Christmas morning, you woke up to open tons of gifts! You got lots of Barbies, cleaning suppplies - you love to clean!, the movie UP, your very own make up, and lots of crafty presents! Then, when we went to Meme's, you got even more! You got a huge barbie mansion that Meme and I wallpapered just for you! You also got a princess tent and lots of cool crafts!

Now for an update on what you've been up to! You are in preschool still at Best Beginnings - you love going to school! You have a boyfriend named Henry and good friends named Tessa and Molly. You go to Music in Motion two days a week with Meme and just take the lead. You have a word wall at home and you can read almost all of the Kindergarten words that my first graders needed to know when they came to first grade!

You love to sing! You've learned all the words to popular songs on the radio! You love Taylor Swift and Miley Cirus. You've seen Wicked and Mary Poppins at the Theater with Meme and know all the words to those songs as well! You love to "JAM OUT!" in the car with me.

Once in a while I see that crazy attitude pop out. You get nasty and say things like, "FINE!" when I ask you to do things. You say "I don't want to talk right now" when you are angry at someone who is talking to you. But, we have a secret. Just you and me. When that mean and nasty Sarah tries to take over and I can't find my little Rosebud, I look deep in your eyes. No matter how angry or upset you are, I can ALWAYS make that sweet Sarah Rose smile and laugh. I love that about us!

Most of the time, Sarah, you are the sweetest little angel. You love living things - you'd have a million pets if I'd let you. You already have two fish, Swimmy and Spotty (Sucky died early on), your three hampsters, and of course, Bronson!

Over the summer, you had frogs, toads, catepillers, moths, ladybugs, lighting bugs, and even an preying mantis! You often say you want to be a vet when you grow up to take care of all animals. You really want a little puppy of your own - a girl puppy you can hold and put bows in her hair! You'd love an OO-Chi-Wow-Wow!

Your heart makes me sing. We often talk about GG (my grandma, Gert). We talk about things I used to do with her, things you do that remind me of her, things that made her so special, and things that I see in you that I am confident that she is instilling in you. I know that she is your guardian angel. I feel her all around you. You are the most loving person I've ever met, and I am so blessed to have you in my life. I just hope you keep your promise to come and visit me when you're a "big mommy with a prince of your own and lots and lots of babies!"

Holy Cow! So many things are going on with you and I don't know how to write them all down!
You are finishing up you school year in the Sunshine room. Next year you will move to the Stars, Too room before going on to Kindergarten! HOLY COW! You are very smart! You love to ask questions. You will often say, "Let's talk about ______." and fill it in with whatever topic you'd like to discuss. The other day, it was "Let's talk about whales! They are very big and fat with white teeth." You watch all kinds of animal discovery shows with Daddy and you love to learn.
You also still love to dress up. Almost everyday when I get home from work you are dressed like a princess. You love to get True Love's Kiss! You have also discovered that you can use your attitude...This is VERY FRUSTRATING! We know how sweet you are but sometimes you act so angry with mean faces and grumpy actions. I know you are just going through a phase and I'm sure my Sweet Sarah will shine through!

Sarah, my Sarah. I have so much to say about you! Here are a few updates.
The other day, you asked me if I would get another prince because Daddy is gonna be your prince, so I need to find another one.
You're obsessed with princesses and princess movies. We watch Sleeping Beauty and Enchanted, daily. You have become interested in Barbies - you have a Snow White and Sleeping Beauty Barbie doll.
Yesterday we were at Grandma's and Molly was resting on the couch. You came over to me and said, "I'm gonna give Molly True Love's Kiss and wake her up!" It was adorable!
You wish Molly's middle name was Corbin...not sure why?! You love ballet and told me the other day that you're going to be a singer. You can say the alphabet, indentify letters and count to "five-teen." You can even add 2+2, 3+3, 4+4, 5+5 (counting fingers).
I'm so proud of you!

Daddy and I asked you what you wanted to be when you grow up. You said that you wanted to be a doctor. I asked what kind of doctor? You said "Like cheese and burger." I asked who you wanted to take care of. Sarah, you cracked us up when you replied, "Kids, like cheese and burger!"

Your pediatrician's name is Dr. Shollenberger... "cheese and burger" HILARIOUS!!

Long time since I've written! You are now completely potty trained - it happened almost over night. I guess you were just ready. You even wear underwear to bed! Sometimes when you poop on the potty you get so excited and want me to take pictures to send to Daddy! You know all of your letters and we're working with Hooked on Phonics to learn all the sounds. You love to play on the computer by yourself. You can navigate the Playhouse Disney page and use the mouse without any help. Your favorite food is Ritz cheesy crackers and watermelon. You also frequently ask for McDonalds. You love to go to the library and the park. You have started asking what songs are about on the radio and I often hear you singing in bed before you go to sleep. I am just amazed at how smart you are - you even know your right from left! You got your first haircut last week (just a trim!) and you sat so nicely! We went to Snip Its and you loved it! You use your manners almost always and are really learning how to play nicely with your sister. I just love you!

You are such a big girl! You started Preschool at Best Beginnings in January. You are a Sunshine with Miss Joann (You're favorite), Miss Gail, and Miss Chris. You cry every once in a while, but once you hit the water table, it's all good. You love school! We hang all of your art work on the fridge and you get so excited! Lately you love "cheesy toast" (grilled cheese) and you are obsessed with juice boxes. We're still working on potty training, but you're learning! You are very feisty - if it isn't your idea, you don't want to do it! You wake up so cheery each morning. You can count to 17, know all colors, some letters, shapes, and can cut with scissors! Your favorite toys are books, dress up (you say, "Wanna get married?"), and your baby teddy bear. You always say, "I'm a good mommy" to your bear. You love to play by yourself - so independent! You repeat almost everything we say from "Jewish Dog," to "douche bag," to "Jesus!" You love to tell me how to drive -"red light, Mommy! It's not our turn." Meme and Papa recently put Bella to sleep and you tell Meme that Bo is in Heaven with Jesus. You make us laugh everyday with your comical phrases and serious tone. "I'm sorry, Mommy, I'm sorry!" We are just enjoying every minute...even the "Do it MYSELF!" parts!

My Sarah! As I write this you are building a zoo with legos. You have grown so much! Mommy works at Hope Academy and you go to Meme's house everyday. Deb Wang (Ya Ya) comes on MTW mornings to watch while Meme goes to work. She builds you a zoo with legos there! You love singing! You're favorite song to sing is "Daisy, Daisy, Give me your answer due. I'm half crazy all for the love of you! It won't be a stylish marriage, I can't afford a carriage. But you'll look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for two." You LOVE to dance - if anyone moves along with you, you say, "No! Watch ME!" Your favorite toys are Him (yellow spotted dog from the book Take Me To the Zoo),

your dollhouse, books, babies, and crayons. You love to read and be read to. You love to watch movies. Tegan is your favorite. He came with us to the Science Center and we had a blast! You always line up all of your buddies ina straight line to watch you dance. Right now there are 12 buddies lined up looking at the Christmas tree. You helped put the decorations on last night- there are 7 on each branch. You kept saying "Great Job!" Your vocabulary is fantastic! you say 3-4 word phrases and sometimes say Damnit/Fuck (WHERE DID YOU LEARN THOSE?!?). My favorite phrase is "holdja" when you want to be picked up. You can count to 13 all by yourself and you know some colors and letters. You are growing so fast! We're working on potty training - you love getting "tappy" when you go!

Wow! It's been a while since I've written! Here's what has been going on. Molly, your baby sister was born on June 25 and you were so excited to meet her. You stayed with Meme and Papa while I was at the hospital but came to visit often. Molly got you a babydoll and a carrier so that you could be just like Mommy. Since we've come home, you have been such a big helper. When Molly cries you run over and say "Awe Mowy" and give her a bink. You also help by throwing away diapers and giving Molly bottles. You are a fantastic big sister!

Along the way, you've become such a big girl. You love to dance. We watch Disney (your favorites are Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (you love Donald and the Hot Dog Dance), The Doodlebops (your favorite is Moe), Handy Manny, and JoJo's Circus! You stop what you are doing whenever one of the show's songs come on and dance! You also know how to count to three and you love working on saying letters of the alphabet. You are so smart! We also spend a lot of time at Meme's pool - you don't even wear wings anymore! You just wear a padded bathing suit and you love to jump into the water all by yourself!
Your favorite words are yeah baby, ok, baby, move, ca ca, and love you. You hate when there is ca ca between your toes - you even check other people's toes too! You love to read Goodnight Moon before bed and Go, Dog, Go! I'm so excited to see you learn and grow. You are adorable! Your favorite food is pizza - you do a little dance ("pizza, pizza, pizza!") and you love dip for anything (ketchup, salsa, ranch dressing)!

April 30, 2007 (19 months)

How quickly you grow! Lately you've become obsessed with your babydolls. You know that a baby says "Wah..." and you scrunch up your face all seriously when you say it. You always have to have a baby with you. You also have little bottles to feed them and you make a little sucking sound when they drink. You can also say things like no, mine, puppy, baby, yes, nana, meme, papa, dada.

You also like and recognize school buses, big trucks (WHOA!), choo-choos, birds (tweet tweet), horses (yehaw), moon, star, and lots of other animals! We practice your flashcards all the time. You are so smart! Last night we went to Harry Buffalo for a softball fundraiser. We got there are 5 and stayed until 9. You were so good! Everyone complimented us on what a good girl you are. You stay right by Mommy and Daddy are are so quiet. At 9, everyone decided to go bowling so because you had been good, we went too. We were there until 11 and you never got crabby or whiney. You were so good!

Wow! I haven't written in a while! Last week we threw away all of you binkies. You cried the 2nd and 3rd day and whined for a few days after that, but you are a really big girl! We went to Walmart and you picked out a new CareBear. We named him Dadoo because that is what you called your binkies. You love you Dadoo bear now!
I also haven't written since you got a big girl bed! It's been about a month and you are such a big girl! Most nights, I put you in bed, but by the time I get downstairs you have opened the door and cry to get out. We put a gate outside your door to keep you safe. Anyways, you cry by the gate for a minute, then you climb into bed and go to sleep like a good girl. I love you!
We went to the zoo yesterday for the first time. You had a great time. We took Vanesa and Xavier and you lasted 4 hours! You loved seeing all the fishies and elephants! You also growled at the lions! You are such a fun girl, Sarah!

January 1, 2007 (15 months old)

Happy New Year! What a party animal you are! We spent New Year's at Meme and Papa's house. We tried putting you to bed at your normal 8:30 bedtime, but you knew there was a party goin' on! You, Sarah Rose, stayed up and in a great mood until 1:15 a.m. It was so fun!

I forgot to write after Christmas but you had such a good Christmas! We spent Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa's and you got a baby doll! Your cousins also loved playing with you. Then, Christmas morning you loved opening all your presents. We had fun at Meme's and Aunt Sue's! I love you!

Hi Darlin! Tonight you are sleeping over at Grammies. I'm sitting in the living room, missing you! We put up our tree last week. You love it! You wave to it all the time and say "Hi!" Daddy had you help hang some ornaments. You just set them on one of the branches. It's adorable! I just love you so much! I hope you are having fun and I can't wait to see you tomorrow!

November 12, 2006

Right now Daddy is watching the Browns play, you are napping and I'm breathing a sigh of relief (Not because you are sleeping!). On Thursday morning you threw up and were coughing really badly. I called work to say I was taking you to the doctor. Of course, your doctor was out of town, so we went to the on-call doctor, Dr. Littman. She was very nervous about your cough. She also checked your ears, but when she went to check your right ear, she barely stuck the tool in and blood came pouring out. I started freaking out! You were screaming! She deducted that you had a walking pnemonia and possibly ear infections, but she couldn't see. She gave you a strong prescription and instructed me to watch you very closely for the next few days. We went home and I just cried. You wanted to just sit and snuggle. I felt so bad because I had debated taking you to the doctor in the first place. I usually like to wait things out and see how it goes. If I hadn't taken you to the doctor, you could've gotten even worse!
So, the last few days have been very scary for me. You've hardly eaten anything, which is so unlike you - you're usually a great eater! I have been so worried that you will get dehydrated or worse. You've been sleeping a lot, but as the weekend wore on, you've gotten back to doing some of your normal behaviors. So, when I said that I was relieved it was because you are on the road to recovery. THANK GOD!

I love you so much and I hope that I always take the best care of you :)

Last night Mommy and Daddy went to Melissa and Tim's wedding. You stayed at Miss Brandy's house (your teacher from Kiddie Kollege). When we picked you up at 12:30, Brandy gave us the nicest compliment. She had taken you to Outback for dinner with her family and after dinner people from another table came and asked whose baby you were. They told Brandy to tell your mother that they'd never seen a better behaved baby! I'm so proud of you for what a good girl you are growing up to be! I love you :)
